On Monday, August 13, 2018, KPFZ programmers resumed their regularly scheduled broadcasts. This decision was made by the Board of Directors since with the exception of the Lake Pillsbury community, our towns are all open to repopulation and the recovery process is underway. According to our Cal Fire Representative, September 1st is the estimated date for the fire's containment.
Because the recovery phase is long lasting and the fire is still active, all programmers have been asked to read announcements that may come in from agencies supporting fire recovery or other fire information. It is the Board's hope that talk shows will continue to provide fire related information to callers as best they can. There is a PSA binder in the Studio with relevant information and referral phone numbers.
Should the need arise to interrupt regular programming to accommodate Fire, Law Enforcement, County, City and other representatives who need to join us on air to impart information and interact with callers, we will do so. When these opportunities arise, KPFZ will provide as much advance notice as possible.
We thank the Lake County community for helping KPFZ provide up-to-date and accurate information for all listeners. The Board of Directors thanks the programmers for stepping up during this time. KPFZ programmers welcome the many new friends we've made and hope you will continue listening and supporting us.
